Multiple Covid-19 Therapeutics Needed... As Dr.
Post# of 148166
As Dr. Bruce Patterson and many other medical leaders have highlighted, COVID-19 is insidious in how some patients show no symptoms while in others it leads to death.
Seems like based upon the data today, in a similar fashion, certain therapeutics help certain patients but not others.
Whatever breakthrough is announced today, it seems unless something totally new emerges with real data, that there is no 1 "magic bullet"...but there are a number of therapeutics that are effective to different degrees in certain populations and we need many weapons to fight this insidious virus...
e.g. Convalescent Plasma, Leronlimab, RLF 100, Remdesivir...
If I were "King" ...I would push the FDA to provide EUA to therapeutics that have a track record of 1.) being very safe; 2.) show significant enough efficacy in significantly large and visible patient group(s); 3.) treatment can be scaled, made readily available, acceptably priced... get these options in the hands of the experts (Physicians) and let these experts do what they are best equipped to do and share results and ultimately come the best treatment for each patient.
So I would love to see the "major therapeutic" breakthrough be an enhanced strategy to get in the hands of physicians more than just 1 more option, but rather a strategy to equip them with a number of effective "weapons"...(and of course announce that Leronlimab is the next one added to the arsenal... )
All INMHO
