I have an evolutionary concern about Diarrhea.

Humans have selected a survival method to evacuate the bowels during a viral infection. This process assists in eliminating the viral load from the body. Yes I’m speaking of gastrointestinal virus. But the virus doesn’t care where to present.
We know that virus often survives in saliva and not in stomach acid; therefore, standing and mobility in a vertical position assists in eliminating viral load in stomach acid. It does however cause diarrhea on occasion.
We also know that respiratory viral illness develops more easily while in a horizontal position. While sleeping for instance, the virus can’t reach the lower gastrointestinal tract, and is more likely to hang out in the esophagus and cause a lung infection.
Here is my evolutionary concern about diarrhea.
If we halt the Cytokine or other instant immuno causes of diarrhea that have developed through evolutionary selection to evacuate virus, will we encounter unforeseen consequence?
