So, if I had billions of dollars and wanted to suppress a competitor's SP, your scenario would require me (or my surrogate) to acquire hundreds (perhaps) of thousands of shares long, and I would hold them until needed. I suppose I would acquire them over many weeks or months so as to avoid driving up the price too much. Then, as the price starts to rise, I would sell them in large blocks at key points on the charts to discourage new buying, encourage the weak to sell. Yes? What do I gain really? If it's a great product, great science, an inevitable win for the company, patients, and shareholders, what do I gain aside from maybe a delay in uplisting (which would require sub $3/sh).
What if I combine this tactic with hit pieces? More discouragement and maybe despair among the "weak hands"? What are my plays here? Maybe I hold the price down so fundraising chokes and the company dies of $$ starvation? I just don't get it. We are not choking, let alone dying.
It seems to me that if I want to keep a competitor OUT OF THE MARKET, I would manipulate the trials, the data analysis, the approval process, and / or attack the quality / credibility of management. Destroy confidence, reputation, faith in the enterprise. Delay, delay, delay. Every day is more profit for me, more chance they'll run out of money, more chance a mediocre alternative will be approved that I can hitch my wagon to. Combo-therapy is better than completely losing my market share. I can't afford a loss of profit... My shareholders, and more importantly, I will not be happy about that.
So, as I think through the talk about SP manipulation, this latter explanation makes the most sense. But it only puts off the inevitable.... I'm probably missing something. If not, the next week or two will tell us a lot. Judge the tree by its fruit. I'm watching the FDA....
P.S. for anyone who thinks the whole idea of behind the scene manipulation is the stuff of "tin foil hats", find the red pill. A billionaire (GS) is openly (public information) bankrolling anarchists in USA. If I have billions and lack morals, why not shape things so I can get more? Doesn't AF write lies for money? Isn't there looting in Chicago. For money, anger, vengeance, won't some folks do just about anything?
