It's become very common recently for so many different reasons. When someone puts themselves in front of the public to support something they feel in their heart for the best reason, they get rewarded with threats of harm to them and their family.
If any normal person has never experienced this situation it can be nerve wracking. Irrational fears begin to take hold, concern for your family kicks in, it affects your daily life, you lose sleep...it begins to control you. But, if the person being threatened is a veteran target, or psychopath, they just brush it off or respond with a "bring it on".
I'm not sure at what point people would feel safe putting themselves in front of the world and making a statement that some will use, for whatever reason, to make that person a target of hate and evil.
Humanity is not headed in a healthy direction.
