The first reactions are loud and inflammatory by design. They are meant for people with no attention span and no interest in anything other than a shallow, instantly tweetable response.
Imagine standing in line for the theater, and the first guy out the door is raving and screaming how bad the movie was. You might get nervous that it's a real stinker. Then other people start trickling out who seemed to enjoy it. Who do you remember? The quiet sensible people, or the raving lunatic running to his blog?
Eventually you get to see the movie and judge for yourself.
