According to the National Institute for Cannabis Investors, cannabis is the biggest industry to emerge in the last 100 years. Think about this for a moment, and let it sink in. I post this opinion not to pump the industry nor any one company, but because I believe this is true. I remember the dot com era (yes, I am that old) and that industry centered in only one small valley in the state of California. Yet that industry changed the entire world, and is still changing it today.
The passing of the 2018 Farm Bill unleashed a powerful hemp revolution. Just in the past few years, CBD has become more popular than anyone ever thought possible, and this relatively new market is now on track to reach $22 billion by 2022. Hemp is just one segment of the much larger cannabis industry. Also, the cannabis industry is world wide. Literally every corner of the country and nearly every country in the world is somehow involved in this new industry. So what one must realize is that with any lucrative new market comes countless innovators who work around the clock to maximize profits --- this is truly the American way.
Many of us are waiting for some kind of news that will make our investment run. That news could come from anywhere and in so many ways. It could be a revolutionary new treatment that turns the medical world upside down, or a new process that reduces costs and produces a better product, or a business deal that shoots our company to a higher or bigger exchange. Perhaps all these things and even more are about to unfold. To say this time is exciting is an understatement. And, while the world is moving forward at breakneck speed, we all still wait for our day in the sun. Change is happening rapidly, but if you are not personally involved, that change is just not fast enough --- it just never is.
I have waited four or more years for what I hope will be earthshaking news for my own investments. Now I believe that news is coming, but it hasn't come yet, and my patience runs thin occasionally. But then I look around and see breathtaking and truly astounding new research and realize all the illnesses that might be prevented or for that matter even cured with products produced by this brand new and largely unappreciated cannabis industry. It is in this moment of reflection that I realize the glory of what may very soon unfold.
Like I said, I am not trying to pump the industry nor even just one stock. I am simply trying to put things in perspective. We live in an impatient world where nothing ever comes fast enough. Yet, our world is changing every single day and in ways we never could conceive. So my advice, take a moment to reflect on those changes and look around at that beautiful big forest just ahead of that damn tree blocking your view.
You too might get excited, and you just might appreciate that change happening in front of you.
