KULR Technology (OTCQB: KULR): Advanced Carbon Cooling Solutions for E-Mobility and 5G infrastructure
Yesterday, KULR Technology (OTCQB: KULR) announced a commercial partnership with high-performance EV maker Drako Motors and posted an all-time high in daily trading volume. KULR will supply Drako with it's FTI (carbon fiber thermal interface material) product, which will be used to help regulate and cool the battery.
IDTechEx, a global independent market research firm on emerging technologies predicts that a changing application landscape led by a rise in 5G and explosive growth of energy storage in the EV market will be big drivers of change and require high-caliber thermal interface materials.
IDTechEx believes that advanced carbons will play a significant role, due to superior thermal conductivity. It's important to note here that carbon is also electrically conductive, which is key for applications like 5G that may require both heat dissipation and EMI shielding capabilities. KULR Technology is both an emerging player and leader in carbon fiber based thermal management solutions having a rich history serving the aerospace industry.
Yesterday's press release validates the potential for EV automakers to utilize KULR's thermal management solutions. Aside from opportunities for the Company to commercialize in the E-Mobility space, the Company has stated in its June 2020 Investor Presentation (slide 19) that it's collaborating with Tier-1 companies in the 5G and cloud computing spaces and lists the advantages FTI has over other thermal interface materials.
It will be interesting to see how much market share of these emerging technologies is captured. KULR's thermal solutions are the real deal but cracking the mass market commercialization nut will be a challenge. Stay tuned.
