Merlot Grape

Vitis vinifera 'Merlot'

popular table wine grape, featuring large tart bright burgundy-purple fruit in fall. Its abundant clusters of grapes are excellent for wine making. Merlot has green foliage throughout the season with the lobed leaves turning yellow in fall. This self-pollinating variety does not require a second plant nearby to set fruit. This vigorous vine works well as a screen for arbors or trailing along fences. Prefers full sun and requires regular pruning. Reaches 10 to 20 ft. long.
