Military Tanker Aircraft Business Sector Update -
Post# of 2306
This latest video from Airbus confirms my expert opinion given in earlier briefs.
All A330 MRTT (Multi-Role Tanker Transport) aircraft are converted from new or used fully assembled A330 civilian airliners - none are produced as MRTTs from scratch.
The conversion process takes 9 months per aircraft.
Even with the huge improvements made to production process over the last 9 years, only 5 aircraft can be converted per year.
Accordingly, this reinforces my previous opinion posted continuously for the last 2.25 years that:
- The ex-Royal Air Force Tristar tanker aircraft owned by $TMPS are more likely than not to be used by someone - whether it is $TMPS or whether $TMPS sells them on to a new entrant to the industry.
- Very little time, effort and cost is required to get the already converted Tristar MRTTs back into service - compared to a newly conversion A330 MRTT.
- The relative cost difference is huge - with an A330 MRTT costing $300M each.
