You wrote, and I totally agree, "No matter how you slice it, that has the appearance of ... a trend that is going in the wrong direction. If Samsung is really booked for the rest of the year, that would be unfortunate (for the CytoDyn, the US, and the World). And if Samsung has represented to Dr.NP that they only have capacity for 10M vials in 2021, that's an even bigger problem. I hope these sands shift again in a positive direction if we are granted FDA approval.
Over on the Yahoo Message Board, they think you are a basher or an idiot for bringing up supply concerns. They say everyone will be beating down Cytodyn's door for a piece of the action if Leronlimab is approved and lots of money will flow. Almost no one is taking into account the huge volumns needed or the lag time to produce them. Dr. Been sees the problem as we know from his interview with Pourhassen. You don't dare say that Pourhassen "dodged" the question when Been asked about the "billions" of doses needed for the worldwide pandemic shutting down the worldwide economy or the quantities needed for HIV and other indications that will be needed when their use is approved, which will be soon. You do see Pourhassen nod affirmatively when Been says we will need billions of doses. I do think Pourhassen has perhaps reconciled himself to the fact that Cytodyn can't do anything more without extraordiary help from the government and others and that he can't do anything about the timing of such huge supply of the drug.
It surprises me that CDiddy, whom I appreciate, seems to be OK with the small quatities forthcoming. He writes, "... if we are approved as the SOC for severe only, we won't need additional capacity immediately.(!!!) If however we are approved for mild to moderate as well, we will need more capacity. I fully expect the government, Samsung, AGC, other manufactures and quite likely other pharmacuedical companies to chip in."
His comment seem to miss the size of the problem by several orders of magnitude. I don't understand his position or his reason for supply optimism. The point of greater supply, at least, must be to prevent patients from progressing to the condition of severe/critical, simply treating the milder population.
Someone here must have done some calculation of the quantities needed as fast as possible for all demand. Demand is needed worldwide to address Covid-19 (all levels of illness), HIV and the Long Haulers immediately. That times the number of needed doses in each case. Soon, more Leronlimab will be needed for other indications in the pipeline. This is the new penicillin after all.
OK, enough for now. Thanks again, Blafarm, for your work.
