Personally, I don’t really care if the president gets behind leronlimab, I want medical professionals to demand leronlimab. The optics of this being a political situation could get very distracting. Everything cytodyn has done has been by the book, in agreement with the FDA process. The PRs have been backed by real data that is only growing. There has been no cherry picking patients or over-reaching comments. The distribution AND manufacturing deal is really a sign of confidence and a confirmation of the size of demand that will be happening. They could have gone with just a distributor with no manufacturing.
I also feel we need to recognize that the FDA must be under huge pressure to get something that works. I don’t thing they are simply agreeing the protocols and saying get back to us with data a few weeks from now. I think the FDA has specific agents assigned to each drug trial with a glimmer of hope and they are talking daily about every bit of updates in blood samples etc.. what leronlimab is showing is more likely a continuous flow of data, not a data dump. I hope this is how the FDA is working at least. They can’t be asked by every higher up for answers and just respond that they are in wait and see mode.
We are only a few days, maybe weeks away from showing the world a real covid treatment. Thie world will really put this drug on a pedestal and see all the other huge capabilities. The road forward is being paved like we can’t imagine.
