No one with millions of shares to sell would sell

No one with millions of shares to sell would sell in that manner and drive the price they receive down if they were just taking profits. They would sell gradually over the course of the day or days and try to maximize their gain. These sales were done with the express purpose of driving the stock price down. IMHO that's obvious.
