I HATE What Trump Has Done to the Country … M

Me too.
… but I LOVE what he’s doing to the GOP.
Me too.
With less than five months to go between now and the November election, the Republican party is faced with trying to re-elect a man whose entire “pResidency” has been a disaster of monumental proportions.
The country is engulfed in debt, millions of citizens are out of work, over 120,000 Americans are in their graves – and tens of thousands of those deaths were directly caused by Trump’s incompetence, stupidity, and lack of morals.
But that’s not the worst of it. The fact is that the GOP’s 2020 candidate is completely unhinged, which becomes increasingly apparent on a daily basis. As the cases of Covid-19 are spiking across the nation, Trump continues to claim that the virus is all but gone.
Not only is he contradicting medical experts, he’s now contradicting his own WH advisors, his own PR staff, and his own attorney general.
Everything the Dotard has done to reassert himself as “presidential” in the eyes of the voters has not only failed miserably, but has backfired spectacularly. The walk to St. John’s Church to hold up a Bible for a photo-op was condemned by actual Christians. The West Point attendance he insisted on, despite the health risk to the cadets, ended with a doddering old man trying to master a glass of water and a ramp.
The 90,000-attendee Tulsa rally turned out to be 6,200 people, who had to sit through twenty minutes of revisionist history about the water-and-ramp fiasco, followed by a rambling word salad comprised of whining paranoia and displays of self-pitying victimhood.
And then there’s George Lloyd’s death and the ensuing national and international protests against racial inequality/injustice, which in turn has led to protests against police brutality, which in turn has led to the toppling of monuments erected to honour Confederate leaders who committed treason against the Union in order to uphold the legality of slavery.
While Trump continues to call protestors thugs and anarchists, polls show that the majority of the citizenry support their aims, which leaves the Republicans having no choice but to appeal to Trump’s dwindling ‘base’ of bigots and racists – a base nowhere near enough to re-elect him.
What makes this state of affairs so undeniably delicious is the fact that the man the Republicans were willing to sell their souls to protect, the man they lied for, committed perjury for, defended when he was indefensible is the same man who is bringing their party down with him. The man the GOP enabled to destroy the country is now destroying the GOP.
They should have known from day one that in Trump’s mind, loyalty is a one-way street – and if he takes every last Republican sycophant down with him, he will consider it justified because they failed to secure him a second term.
It was never “party above country” for the PTB in the GOP. It was “Trump above party”. I’m sure that seemed like a good idea at the time. But nowadays – not so much.
To say the Republicans are caught between a rock and a hard place would be the understatement of the century.
