The problem is many people in this country don't understand science as high probability facts (there is no such thing as a sure thing). We live in a crazy time of pseudo science, disinformation, information overload and the ability to validate ones own beliefs no matter how absurd with just a single click of a mouse. The means of connecting with people via the internet opened up a world of possibilities but also a world of chaos, confusion and ultimately an anti-science climate brought about by people who don't understand how or why it works but are able to validate their imaginations own answer.
