I completely agree with your conclusion on the debacle of a company. I had 99% accepted that two and a half years ago (that there would not be a return), but about a year ago I finally let go of that last 1% of hope.
The lesson learned for me is one that we all know, but sometimes forget: keep your emotions out of your investment strategy and be very aware of how frequently you try to rationalize (to yourself) bad indicators away and perhaps overweight (if not almost unrealistically) possible positives.
If I had maintained that mindset for HJOE, I would have not made anymore investments during 2014 and would have been fully out by the start of 2015.
We all make mistakes and life and make decisions that we wish we hadn’t. All you can ask of yourself is to learn, be aware and continually evolve your mindset.
