WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump drew fire from critics Saturday for sprinkling racially divisive stereotypes throughout his remarks at a high-profile campaign rally in Tulsa at a time when the nation is grappling with racism and police misconduct.
Speaking just days after protests and unrest broke out in cities across the nation following the death of George Floyd, Trump described violent protesters he claimed had forced the cancellation of a separate outdoor campaign event in Tulsa as "thugs." He used the term "kung flu" to describe the coronavirus. And he blasted the removal of Confederate statues, arguing that a "left wing mob" wanted to "vandalize our history."
