Regarding the power, the right time to develop the number of participants to achieve adequate power is at the beginning of the study — it is to late to discuss while the trial is closing.
NP is right in that more participants drives higher power but more participants cost more and take longer - (remember this is a phase 2).
Let get the results out and if it works really well the number of participants should be sufficient to demonstrate efficacy.
