Ha! Anti-virals are supposed to reduce viral loads

My understanding is that leronlimab effectiveness for covid-19 comes from cutting off the haywire immune response that causes so much damage in the more severe cases. It (apparently) reduces plasma viral load indirectly by enhancing CD8+ activation.
An anti-viral would work more directly by either blocking entry of the virus into the cell (like leronlimab for HIV) or blocking viral replication once it gets inside the cell (like the drug that won't be named is supposed to do).
