I wonder if the same complacency afflicted those caught up in the Spanish Flu after the first wave. People are dumb. The only thing that's changed is that most people are more wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Infections are still going to happen just at a slower pace. If we become complacent and stop doing best practices, the wave will come back and more people will die.
