A number of assumptions may be incorrect. That's what it said. No explanation or clarification. We don't know if the error makes the numbers reported worse or better. A reasonable assumption is that they are not better or they would not have felt the need to issue that statement.
In any case, 'disavow' is certainly a correct description of what took place in that PR.
