Military Tanker Aircraft Business Sector Update -
Post# of 2306
6 x NATO countries - Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway and the Netherlands - will operate a shared pool of 8 x A330-MRTT - in a Multinational Multi-Role Tanker and Transport Fleet (MMF) managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).
The Multinational MRTT Fleet project makes steady progress as detailed in this NATO news release:
https://www.nspa.nato.int/en/news/news-20200514-6.htm
The news release gives details of timescales - which in my opinion - means the current A330-MRTT production / conversion schedule from the present well into 2021 will be taken up with this project.
This reinforces my view that Airbus will probably not be a bidder on the USN 2020 MAC but is more likely to consider responding to the solicitation for the much larger and longer term US TRANSCOM / USAF Air Mobility Command requirement which is expected to eventually subsume the USN requirement as well.
This still leaves Omega and $TMPS as the only companies worldwide who currently own military AAR tanker aircraft that could be available for use by the anticipated start date of the USN 2020 MAC - which will be become apparent within a few weeks when the solicitation is issued.
