I'm a little confused when they say "leading to cell death". Do they mean that it leads to virus "cell" death? Or maybe the drug action on the virus induces apoptosis of the infected cell? I'm guessing the former but either would probably be acceptable if the virus is killed. Possibly just a case of the synopsis being written not as clearly or in-depth as it could be, which is probably OK for the purposes of that website.
I'm kind of glad to hear less of Brilacidin being a vaccine candidate as opposed to a treatment. The prophylactic possibilities seem interesting for perhaps "front line" workers or the very high risk, but otherwise it seems kind of impractical for everyone to get an infusion every few days.
Treatment seems like it could potentially be "game-changing", just wish they'd get it into a few sick people and see what it does. Feels like it's taking forever, though I suppose (as these things go) it really is moving pretty quickly.
