Just to satisfy my curiosity -- does a multi-ident

Just to satisfy my curiosity -- does a multi-identity use multiple computers, or just multiple windows on one browser, or a couple of different browsers on the same computer? It must be pretty hard to remember which of your own identities you reply to, and what writing style to use for each name, and I'm curious about the logistics of it.
