Our discussion helped me to fully realize the challenge of getting this treatment to people - as well as the reason it’s so important.
This man is exhausted - recovering from the virus himself - and is being bombarded with input from all directions about what to do next.
And his wife - like so many patients - has also been bombarded with the various treatments these doctors are trying in order to get her better.
It’s frustrating to think that she wouldn’t have to be sedated right now - and at risk for more side effects from all these treatments - if we could just get the *right* treatment to her instead of all this stuff that’s not showing full benefit.
It also doesn’t help that in almost all cases the attending doctors have not heard yet about Leronlimab and little time, trust or energy to learn about something new that sounds “experimental.” The precious safety record is really key here but even getting the door open to begin that conversation is hard under these circumstances.
So it’s a big stretch all the way around. Even still, this man is considering Leronlimab as a treatment for his wife and is having the discussion with her physicians. He’s very sweet. Please keep he and his wife in your thoughts.
Just one of the families we can help.
