What we're doing here is important work. If we can in any way support Leronlimab making it to market, we have the ability to help healthcare workers who have put themselves in harm's way. We have the ability to help essential workers who - many times - have to put themselves in harm's way. We can help kids.
Let's get out the best, most relevant information:
1) The safety data is there, evidenced in prior use.
2) The results are there for Leronlimab, evidence in emergency use and trial results.
3) There is a clear Rantes connection in COVID-19 and Kawasaki. Leronlimab treats Rantes.
4) Injection, NOT IV.
The Highlights:
Cytodyn is running two Leronlimab trials: a phase II for mild/moderate cases and a Phase IIb/III for severe cases. A Phase I trial was not necessary because the company has already accumulated over 5 years of safety data in over 800 HIV patients in phase III HIV trials.
The company has completed P3 trial in HIV combination therapy; currently there is a monotherapy in HIV underway. Some of the monotherapy patients have taken leronlimab for over 5 years without adverse events and with good quality of life. COVID trials underway are phase 2 and phase 2/3. Also over 50 patients have been treated for Covid under emergency IND with impressive results. So this is way past phase 1. Data has been submitted for peer review in major scientific journal, should be published soon.
While thousands of patients were needed to show Remesdivir does *something,* the same pool of patients isn't necessary when a smaller pool shows efficacy-- i.e. a much larger portion of ventilator patients survive than is typical and the drug has previously been shown to be safe.
