There’s no problem. I think this virus has not been one where a BSL4 lab is necessary, but that probably was not known at the time of the earlier news release. If a protein approach similar to their Ebola approach is what was used in Hubbard, that would have been with the specific CoVid19 spike protein, which I’ve found as commercially available. No special lab precautions are required other than a standard lateral flow hood. The protein cannot be present without the virus and the virus cannot be present without the spike protein, so that test would be a reasonable approach and it’s a great approach to testing. Pretty amazing development. Does anyone remember if the Ebola was done in Hubbard or Houston or by Battelle or some other lab? Just curious on that.
