Bruntingthorpe Airfield Update - May 3, 2020. B
Post# of 2306
Business article on the recent acquisition of Bruntingthorpe Airfield by Cox Automotive UK Ltd.
The article includes a recent overhead satellite image showing the relative location of currently stored aircraft and the areas of the airfield used for car storage - which prompted me to check out Google maps which shows the image to be the latest from Bluesky in 2020.
Contrary to the nonsense posted on the UK amateur aircraft spotters forum a few weeks ago - and by the disgruntled former $TMPS employee and multi-year basher who tried slithering into iHub after midnight overnight May 5/6 to attack the Mods with profanity - 1000s of cars would not need to be moved to use the runway for departures.
Both taxiways linking the main aircraft dispersal parking area to the main runway - and the minimum operating strip (MOS) for take-off of a high-powered aircraft like the Tristar have been left completely clear.
The majority of the stored cars awaiting auction or disposal are on the grass north of the runway, some are on not-in-use taxiways and others are on the NE extension of the runway not needed since the days when it was a USAF Strategic Air Command dispersal airfield for heavily loaded nuclear alert bombers in the 1950s to mid-1960s.
