A criminal investigation is underway after a Medway school orientation held on Zoom took a disturbing turn.

At the end of a middle school orientation on Wednesday night, a "Zoom bomber" showed the group a 15-20 second clip of child pornography, officials said.

Police are investigating and the district is doing an internal investigation.

“We believe that certain security protocols were not followed prior to the start of the meeting, which allowed for this outside party to access the meeting and take over the video display,” Medway School Superintendent Armand Pires said.

Officials said the meeting was password protected but the security credentials needed to get into the meeting were shared publicly.

The district is now planning to switch all live classes with teachers to Google Meet.
