You would have thought that the only current competitor to $TMPS would have learnt a bit about using under powered old aircraft for high all up weight military tanker missions - where losing an engine on take-off means crashing is almost inevitable - especially when their inspection process during purchase and subsequent modification failed to detect non-compliance with maintenance directives.

By comparison, $TMPS owns a fleet of meticulously maintained aircraft that were both the main AAR tanker and personnel / cargo transport aircraft for the Royal Air Force right up to the day they were retired - and that was only to rationalize the fleet by using privately financed A330-MRTT Voyager to replace a combination of smaller fleets of Tristars + VC10s under a 27-year $3 Billion program.

I know which former owner I would trust to be selling an aircraft in completely airworthy condition.
