COVID19 Update for Sonora State

From Ariete Caborca this Friday Morning 4-24-2020 - autotranslated from Spanish

The 199 cases that have been recorded in Sonora are distributed in: San Luis Rio Colorado 96, Hermosillo 37, Huatabampo 15, Cajeme 13, Caborca and Nogales 7, Navojoa 6, Magdalena, Guaymas and Sáric with 4 cases each, Opodepe 2, Etchojoa, Agua Prieta, Puerto Peñasco and General Plutarco Elias Calles with one case each.

In total, 919 suspected cases have been studied, 199 were confirmed and 720 were discarded by laboratory; at the moment, 13 patients have been healed and discharged; 153 are maintained with a Mild Covid-19 painting with home handling, 11 are hospitalized, 2 are stable, 9 very serious and 5 of these with invasive mechanical ventilation.

As the most difficult stage of infections began and where danger increases, Clausen Iberri called citizenship to stay at home, as it is the most effective measure to address the spread of the virus.

Clausen Iberri added that with this data you can see that the Covid-19 is in the middle of expansion in the state, as infections have been confirmed every day and unfortunately, deaths are becoming more frequent.

He mentioned that between May 10 and 20 the highest point of the epidemic is expected, that is, the peak of the curve, so those days the rate of contagion, hospitalizations and the number of deaths will be taller.

No way is the virus under control, on the contrary, those countries that were starting to relax social distancing measures are presenting a resurgence in cases; our state is about to live just the worst moment of the disease, and the scenario that We saw in Europe and in America a month ago, now we will start seeing it in our communities, if we don't abide by the measure of staying at home ", he said.

end of quotes from Ariete Caborsa

There have been 22 deaths in Sonora. Population of Sonora is 2.85 million . In very rough terms call it 1% of the US population. If the Sonora data were raised to equal US population they'd be showing 19,900 cases and 2200 deaths vs the actual US totals of 910,000 cases and 51,445 deaths. Sonora hasn't peaked and it's not clear that we have peaked in the US either but it appears they will fare much better on a per capita basis than the big rich nation to the north. From what I read the government Sonora is being very attentive to the situation.

Overall the incidence of cases and deaths in Sonora is well below what we have experienced here in the U. S on a per capita basis. Sonora is in an earlier stage of the pandemic so their numbers will increase. There are only seven confirmed cases in Caborca municipality.

If you're on Facebook just enter Ariete Caborca in the search window. Otherwise visit www.arietecaborca.com - however when I do that it asks if I want to add a Chrome extension and I don't so beware of that if you try to view the website. Other browsers might treat that URL differently - don't know.
