Fly In While Locals Banned from Loved Ones’ Funerals
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor has expressed his anger at governments allowing businesses to fly in migrant workers while the people “cannot go to the funerals of our loved ones”.
McGregor, the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two weight classes simultaneously and still the biggest draw in mixed martial arts (MMA), posted his message on social media after a follower sent him Facebook screenshots of a what was claimed to be an anonymous message sent to a local politician about flights into the Irish capital of Dublin from Bulgaria.
The purported whistleblower alleged that a Ryanair flight had left for Bulgaria empty and returned to the Celtic country laden with 189 migrant workers, with “no social distancing on board, putting all the cabin crew at risk, [and] there was also 200 bags in the hold of the aircraft putting the ground handling agents at risk.”
They also claimed that “None of these passengers have/are getting medical clearance, plus they won’t be self-quarantining for the next 14 days, they’ll be heading straight to work.”
Is this true @Ryanair? @DublinAirport? We cannot go to the funerals of our loved ones yet companies can pay to fly in 100s of workers from abroad.

“Is this true @Ryanair @DublinAirport?” demanded McGregor, who has strongly backed a “full lockdown” to protect his island homeland from the coronavirus pandemic.
“We cannot go to the funerals of our loved ones yet companies can pay to fly in 100s of workers from abroad. To pick strawberries,” he added incredulously, before appealing to Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar to “STOP THIS!”
“I’m not doing this to dispute. For the sake of every human being on this island. STOP!” he pleaded.
The British government has adopted a similarly lax approach on foreign travel — indeed, the British government and the public health technocrats advising it have successfully resisted restricting travel from anywhere in the world down to the present day, and do not even impose a quarantine requirement on new arrivals — with scores of EU migrants being flown in for seasonal work on farms.
This is despite the fact that literally millions of British workers have been laid off or furloughed on reduced wages as a result of the government lockdown, with many expressing shock that locals were given little or no opportunity to apply for the work.
Some even claimed on social media that they had applied for farm work and been turned down.
