For the past three-plus years, you’ve had to defend your “pResident” on a daily basis.
You’ve had to come up with excuses for his inane tweets, his idiotic statements, his lies – his obvious stupidity.
You’ve had to make excuses for the big ticket issues, as well – paying hush-money to porn stars, locking kids in cages – and even bigger stuff, like giving classified information to the Russians, standing with Putin against his own country.
And then things got really sticky when you had to defend him for shaking down Ukraine in exchange for the financial aid they desperately needed – and that included having to make excuses for yourselves when you acquitted him of what amounts to treason.
Well, now it’s a whole new ballgame, isn’t it? Now you have to make excuses for your “pResident” ignoring information about Covoid-19 in order to protect his re-election campaign, and for lying about it after the fact. You have to make excuses for his incompetence in handling the pandemic, and for yourselves for enabling and supporting that incompetence.
But now you have to make excuses for people dying – people who wouldn’t have died if a competent response had been initiated at the outset, had your “pResident” and your party members not tried to convince the populace that they were safe when you knew they weren’t, had your “pResident” not decided that his poll numbers were more important than preparing the nation for what was inevitably to come.
Let me impart something most of us learned in Common Sense 101. Nothing unifies people like facing a common crisis, especially a life-or-death crisis like a pandemic. And united people tend to look for a common enemy to blame for their circumstances – especially when they realize that that enemy precipitated those circumstances, and did so to protect their political power instead of protecting them.
So guess what, Republican powers-that-be? Tag – you’re IT! You and your “pResident” are now the common enemy that allowed people’s parents, children, neighbours and friends to die. You are the reason that our first responders are risking their lives to treat the sick and the dying because they lack the protective gear and equipment to do so safely.
Your “president” is the direct cause of incalculable physical, emotional, and psychological suffering among your fellow citizens – and you are the party that is busy making excuses for him, same as always.
You know, it’s one thing to come up with bullshit PR spin to cover for dalliances with porn stars – or even inconvenient-but-damning testimony from witnesses to your “pResident’s” treason. It’s quite another thing to try to excuse-away sitting back and watching Americans sicken and die while protecting a self-serving madman who believes his re-election is more important than any one life, no less tens of thousands of lives.
So yeah, GOP – you’re IT! Now run along and spin your “pResident’s” choice to put his re-election chances above the health, safety, and financial well-being of the citizenry into being something noble. Come up with excuses as to why he withheld life-saving information from the people he swore to protect. Conjure up excuses for his self-serving lies, along with his incomparable incompetence.
And good luck trying to sell that BS in November – ‘cause I got a feeling that despite any shortages we might be facing in future, pure unadulterated bullshit ain’t gonna be flying off the shelves.
