If taking a drug can keep someone off a ventilator, that is a risk worth taking, as there are many risks from being on a ventilator (and all the drugs they have to dose you with, putting you in an induced coma, to make the ventilator possible.)
But obviously, something that has much less serious side effects which are at worst a mild tingling in fingers and toes and transiently elevated blood pressure -- like Brilacidin -- is a much safer drug, if it works effectively against the virus and its secondary infections.
