66% chance of getting the actual drug is a gift when you are staring down the barrels of death, and knowing of the safety switch to the real drug if things turn for the worst.
And it looks like ventilator survival is better in the USA than many other countries, maybe the HCQ and/or z-pak is stopping/slowing the sepsis and other bacterial infections long enough to naturally clear the virus.
I remember well the excitement in the eyes of my wife's oncology docs when they said she had a 40% chance in an autologous stem cell transplant. Most of the 60% who died were from infections.
All in all, the USA tends to lead the rest of the world in medical advances and treatments. Like it or not the FDA must be considered as some part of said benefits.
