One effect of the pandemic is that the public's discretionary spending will be reduced which will affect consumer purchases downward. Both the rich and the working will be less affected, but if the current 10 million workers unemployed doubles or becomes 20 percent unemployed, GDP can go way down, and homeowner and renters and other debtors will have difficulty making payments.
My point is consumer product OEMs will also suffer. Many countries have implemented recovery and stimulus plans for both business and the most affected public, with the most funding going to large business. There are questions whether businesses like airlines will survive long enough for business to get back to normal. I heard the other day of s flight with only one passenger aboard! While all are affected, my opinion is that government spending in a recession, or if this becomes a depression, will go to infrastructure and public works to provide jobs and income. Businesses that serve business, online business and services, and government funded infrastructure projects have a better chance of getting through this pandemic.
