It's just bottled water that's gone through electrolysis so it increases the pH to 8.8 or 9.5 depending on the brand. The average human blood pH is 7.4, and viruses thrive in acidic environments, so the "theory" is that if you increase your blood pH, it may not stop a virus from taking hold but will hopefully make it a little more difficult for it to thrive. Some doctors recommend alkaline water for acid reflux because it helps balance the pH of other foods that may be acidic. Just don't go full bore on it and only drink alkaline water. It's best to continue to drink some regular water because if you over do it, it may cause some GI problems. That's never happened to me because I use regular water with my coffee and tea in the morning, and then drink alkaline during the day (you can't tell the difference between the two). Drinking alkaline water will raise the pH of your urine which shows that alkaline water is not completely neutralized by stomach acid. My better half is an RN and has been recommending it to me for years, and she hasn't been sick for over 10 years even though she treats flu patients (and now covid) patients every day. Again, I'm not promoting it. If you decide to try it, most alkaline water that you get off the shelf has gone through electrolysis and isn't natural, so it may lack the minerals that you get in bottled spring water if it hasn't been added back, so take vitamins if that's the case. I just feel comfortable drinking it, especially given my age and I need every advantage I can get. Prior to this pandemic starting, I saw alkaline water in the bottled water section of all the grocery stores, and now I have to hunt for it because apparently it's now catching on.
