Multiple times a day a new story about some issue with Zoom is emerging.
I think there could be a domino effect and more and more Zoom users will move to other platforms.
This could really doom Zoom. Think about web browsers that were once favorites that are no longer used. Internet Explorer saw a huge drop off to Chrome and Firefox. I can see Zoom ending up in the category of “formerly used videoconferencing applications”.
If I was at Zoom I would be extremely concerned about the products chances of surviving this. What percentage of people who leave Zoom will return when Zoom says all the issues have been fixed? I think it will be small. Zoom has broken trust and betrayed their users, mishandling sensitive information and doing thing with users’ consent!
I think for a lot of folks once trust is broken it is very difficult to reestablish. So far I don’t see Zoom doing anything really great in trying to reestablish trust. Their response so far has been pretty poor, especially the CEO’s!
