I am writing this message with the goal of getting important information to the members of our Local, State and Federal Government. Information that I believe can save tens of thousands of lives.
My plea to everyone who reads this is to please take some time to become an expert on the coronavirus treatment detailed below. We need you to advocate for the expeditious evaluation, distribution and use of this treatment because the time is now to save lives. We have the opportunity to save many lives if we can expedite this process. Conversely if the standard FDA trial procedures are followed the approval of this drug will be too late.
Leronlimab is monoclonal antibody that has been shown to calm the cytokine storm that is killing people. (1)(2) Initial results, while small, are showing a dramatic improvement in he most severe cases of Coronavirus. (3) Additionally, Leronlimab has been tested In more than 840 HIV and Cancer patients with 0 serious side effects.
Patients in the severe category are in the ICU and generally on ventilators. Various studies have shown that patients on ventilators have a mortality rate of 66-85% (4)
To date Leronlimab has been administered to 10 emergency IND patients. Data on 8 have been released and all 8 have shown meaningful improvement. 2 of the first 4 patients have been taken off of ventilators. These improvements occurred within just a few days of taking Leronlimab. (5) The FDA has approved two separate trials that are currently enrolling patients. I would expect more data in a matter of days.
All things considered equal the FDA is moving very quickly, but it is my belief we are still going to be too late. Given the tremendous safety profile of this drug, we need to expand the use of it to all severe patients. Given the high mortality rate of this group, it is my opinion that it is immoral not to.
A dramatic reduction in fatality changes the dynamic of this pandemic. It may create a situation where fatality is reduced from 1-2% to .1% thereby creating a situation where “Herd Immunity” can be embraced as opposed to physical distancing which of course would have a positive economic impact as well.
