Plasma treatment may be the best, and doesn't have

Here's an article about a Chinese man who was contagious for 49 days after infection -- even though HE didn't have symptoms, he had a huge viral load and was probably infecting others. He finally tested negative after getting the plasma treatment (given plasma from another patient who DID fully recover and tested negative several times).

People who are put on ventilators and recover should be required to donate plasma to save others, many of whom may encounter equipment shortages that prevent THEM from getting ventilators if they get critically ill. It's only decent to save others when you get state-of-the-art treatment that not everyone can get.
Remember that the current thinking is that a prophylactic plasma treatment only offers protection for about 8 weeks, and they don't know if a sick person who recovers because of plasma treatment would have enough antibodies of their own to protect them after that.
We still need better drugs, but stop-gaps like this might save lives.
