You are doing a test for a pathogen that is currently epidemic, (or maybe not epidemic) . The patient is showing symptoms that cause you to suspect the need for a specific test. The results show the pathogen present but not viable.
1. Would the diagnosis change?
2. Would the immediate care they need change?
3. What benefit would there be ( covid-19 in particular) to delay treatment until viability is certain?
