"The infection and inflammatory process ....." for anyone who thinks that this is "just" an infection, please note that the inflammation can be what kills you (causing as it can multiple organ failure).
And also note how quickly someone can go from thinking, "eh, I feel okay" to being in the hospital having trouble breathing.

What we need is an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agent that might also work on virus. Gee, I wonder where we should look to find such a drug.
