Cannabis sales, deliveries explode as Californians

REDDING, Calif. — Cannabis sales and marijuana deliveries are exploding as Californians stock up on pot amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Laythen Martines, the owner of Sundial Collective in Redding, says online orders for pick up and deliveries have significantly increased in the month of March as COVID-19 hit the United States.
"I think people are scared to come out, you know? For us, it's good because we don't want our employees or anyone getting sick or spreading anything so its nice that people are taking advantage of delivery. We can take it right to them and it hopefully slows anything that would happen if there was someone in the store," said Martines.
Martines says customers can order online to pick up in-store or they are willing to bring the marijuana outside to you once you come to pick it up.
They also say they'll deliver all the way down to Corning and up to Mount Shasta for people interested in that service. There is a fee for delivery unless you're over the age of 65. If you're over the age of 65, they'll deliver for free.
In addition to seeing an increase in online orders and deliveries, they say they've changed the way they do things for customers coming into the store.
For now, they only allow one customer in the store per one associate to limit the number of people inside.
If customers are waiting outside, they are asked to stand six feet apart to practice social distancing.
Marijuana dispensaries are allowed to stay open during the coronvirus pandemic because they are considered an "essential" service.
To purchase from Sundial Collective, you can place your order online here.
You must be 21 years old or older to purchase marijuana.
