MPT1, Apparently bats have been involved in the

Apparently bats have been involved in the main SARS outbreaks (not only COVID-19) and then the go to an intermediate hosts like camels in MERS-CoV (in this case probably pangolins) before going into us humans.
As a side comment, and in reference to the floor, I run every day few Kilometers and was told that the virus can be easily picked up by the running shoes. Not sure if this is the case, but given the survival rate of COVID in surfaces and the fact that one traverses quite a bit of streets, now I am taking precaution when I take them off and on.
Not implying that the rat you found picked the virus, of course, as I don't know what would happen if we humans give the virus to an animal even though taking into account the large quantity of happy pets all over I believe it is very unlikely to affect them.
Have a good rest of week-end and let's hope next week will bring good news for us but ,more important, to the patients in the N.Y. Presbyterian.
