As has been explained more than once by myself and misu plaquanil although it has been shown to be better then placebo against this virus is very toxic at high doses. Half the patients in the Chinese study (only one done so far) could not complete the treatment bc they were not able to tolerate the GI side effects (N/V, dehydration). It's more likely it will be used in low dose form for ppx in healthy individuals at high risk like medical providers..much in the same way it is currently used for malaria ppx....if it continues to be proven it has a statistically significant effect.
