Personnally, I would. I would like for the market to be made for investors. The increased liquidity related to shorts is not worth the downside.
I would go even further and simplify the hell out of it. Beyond classic long positions, a few simple derivatives could be maintained to allow hedging (more for the protection of the investment than for leverage) and that’s it. For me, the market should be made to support real economy, not as a tool for the super rich and big corporations to create unsustainable “growth” that destroys lives, environment and eventually crashes
