Exactly. Plastic is made from oil and even used scrap plastic, pound for pound, has a value which is on par with crude oil. The premium for diesel is a few dollars per barrel over the cost of oil.
That's something I have been harping on for a long time. The math simply doesn't work out, especially with PTOI's claimed 90% efficiency (10% lost) and any operating costs. It's also absolutely clear that the founder was lying about being able to create a crude oil equivalent or diesel for $10/bbl--the math does not work.
One could ask the company to provide evidence of those original claims or to break down the numbers from the runs they've already done...but PTOI remains tight-lipped about any evidence of any value proposition and have been that way for over a decade.
So even if one doesn't believe the math...why isn't the CEO shouting PTOI's value proposition from the roofs??...the likely reason is that the CEO also knows there is no value but doesn't want investors to know that.
