An awful lot of that 8 billion is going to be used for public health measures -- for instance, paying for more virus testing, which is what they should have done in the first place. There are 3 new cases in Washington D.C. area -- people returning from China were NOT tested, and were running around as if there was nothing wrong for two weeks before finally getting tested. Countless numbers of people exposed in D.C. area, just as in Washington state, the virus was circulating for at least 6 weeks because people were not getting tested.

Anyone who thinks the CDC is competent is wrong. It's the U.S. government's failed response to this epidemic that will kill many people, and sicken many times more.

Anyway I don't know how much money is really designated for testing drugs. The public health measures are absolutely the most important thing now, to try to stop the spread as much as possible.
