“A synthetic vaccine can be made much more quickly than either an egg-based or the new cell-based vaccines being developed,” says Antigen Express President Eric von Hofe, PhD.
“There are many companies with existing facilities that can make clinical-grade vaccine in hundred-kilogram quantities after ramping up,” says von Hofe. “And a kilogram is enough for roughly 1 million people.” If it works, he says, the synthetic vaccine can shake up the whole field.”
