For instance, it is documented that people who are infected but don't get sick CAN spread the virus to others. It is thought based on epidemiology that people are spreading the virus BEFORE they exhibit symptoms -- as is the case with the common cold and influenza. Yet this guy is saying that that's not the case.
Also, to say that this can be contained with contact tracing is crazy.
It might be possible in countries where there are very few cases. But, it's certainly not possible in China, Japan, or either Korea. (NK is denying that they have any cases but that is untrue.) Italy doesn't seem to have been successful with that either.
As far as containing it in the U.S. -- hopefully they can keep it from becoming as widespread as it is in Wuhan, but when you keep reading about people who were released from quarantine by mistake, and then they went on an airplane and infected others, and when you read about cases popping up where there was no known contact with an infected person, and when you realize that there are documented cases of people getting sick 24 days after exposure, but the quarantine period is only 14 days -- this seems like Pollyanna posturing to prevent panic.
