“The research shows patients older than the age of 80 had a 14.9 percent chance of dying after being infected, while those in their 70s were found to have an 8 percent chance of death. Patients in their 50s were about three times more likely to die than patients in their 40s, at a rate of 1.3 percent.
Patients ages 10 to 19 were as likely to die as patients in their 30s, at just 0.2 percent. The study did not report any deaths in children younger than 10, who represented less than 1 percent of patients.”
If the above data is correct, than the panic surrounding the corona virus is overinflated (the news today is much more about producing marketing revenue than actually reporting the news accurately). The virus appears to be most fatal in the same population as the flu and least fatal in patients aged 49 years and younger. We obviously want to prevent all deaths, but a virus that is only fatal to those with a weaker immune system is far less worrisome than let’s say a hemorrhagic fever that may kill persons from various age groups.
Let’s hope that the CC reveals progress in China and other foreign countries in the corona virus front. Not only could that reduce deaths, but bring in needed attention and revenues. U.S. trials are fine, but we have far fewer patients to treat and much more competition to treat those patients.
